Deer Run Sheep Farm is located in the Potomac Highlands of eastern West Virginia. We specialize in hardy, easy-care sheep with beautiful fleeces. We raise our sheep as kindly and naturally as possible, using no growth hormones or antibiotics. The sheep have free access to a barn, but prefer to spend most of their time in the pastures, either grazing or dozing under the trees in the fresh West Virginia mountain air. We sell fiber from our sheep, as well as grass-fed lamb. Visitor welcome. We have a limited number of pasture raised lambs available each summer. Please contact us for more info. deerun@mountain.net. Mike Pierson Farm is a small, family-owned farm which has been in our family since 1891. We raise Angus cross cattle that are grazed on mountain top grasses in central West Virginia. We raise healthy, grass-fed beef using no growth hormones or low-level antibiotics. We use rotational grazing and harvest our own hay. We sell both petite beef (less than one year old) and grass finished beef (about 18 months old), both of which are very lean. We sell mainly sides and whole beef and occasionally lean hamburger. Our beef is processed in a local, state-inspected facility. The beef is aged 14 days, cut to customer specifications, vacuum sealed, and then frozen. Your beef order can be picked up at the processor or our farm, or can be delivered within a 150-mile radius for a fee. Mike Pierson Farm, Mike Pierson, 2709 Blue Knob Road, Maysei WV 25133. (304) 587-2318. E-mail: jmpierson77@hotmail.com. Misty Mountain Farm is 160 acres of rolling hills in Calhoun County, WV. Purchased as a 100-year-old rundown homestead, we are slowly restoring our land naturally. Through rotational grazing of our Dexter cattle, goats, and pastured chickens and turkeys, we hope to bring balance and fertility back to our pastures. Broilers are available beginning in June and until early fall. A limited number of turkeys are raised for Thanksgiving. Though we are still in the herd building stage for our Dexter cattle, grass fed beef and registered stock is occasionally available. Since we are a small and still growing farm, we advise you to call or e-mail to see what we have currently available, or to schedule a visit. We invite you to come grow with us! WV 26147. (304) 354-9001. Mon Valley Farms, LLC is a small group of family farmers that have come together to sell all natural beef from the Mon River Valley area. We have chosen not to use any added growth-stimulating hormones or antibiotics, so you and your family can enjoy beef that is free from chemical residues. Our livestock are pasture-raised on nutritious grasses, hay, and their mother's milk, and harvested at a younger "petite" age. This allows you to enjoy smaller, high quality cuts that are naturally lower in fat. Our beef is processed in a local USDA inspected plant and comes to you quick-frozen and vacuum-packed in heavy plastic to ensure your dining pleasure while at the same time having an excellent storage life. We are also proud that we have adopted low impact, sustainable farming practices—like streamside fencing and rotational grazing. While Mon Valley Farms, LLC is raising top quality beef, we are also raising a more positive outlook for farm families who want to maintain their rural life style and economic viability. Kaetzel Road, Knoxville MD 21758. (301) 834-9808. Swift Level steers are Greenbrier County Black Angus beef raised on lush green bluegrass pastures without grain, stress, hormones, pesticides or herbicides in a quiet, free pasture environment. Angus are genetically fitted for the Greenbrier Valley and the flavor is enhanced by the natural grasses and flowing spring fed water. I select my calves at weaning and place them in my Natural Beef Program where they are allowed to mature peacefully and naturally. I follow the European tradition of allowing the maturation period of 17 months. The meat is rich in color, has a trace of marbling and is so tender! I am next in line from generations that have raised cattle. My knowledge of feeding and care comes from a lifetime alongside the masters of this art. Please visit Swift Level, a historic property known internationally for its livestock and beauty. I will personally show you how my herd is cared for to insure the quality of the steer and the environment. Our steers are processed to your specification or with my consultation according to your individual or group needs. They are available from 1/4, 1/2, to whole steer. I care about how my steers die, consequently they go to a kind, clean, family-run operation that processes one at a time. All meat is hung for 14 days and is cut to order, vacuum sealed and frozen in individual packets. Your order is as easy as a phone call or email.
