Maine
Alder
Brook Pig Farm is tucked in the woods in the small town of
Athens, Maine.
We specialize in raising Heritage Breed pork.
All our pigs are registered pure bred Large Blacks. This breed
is best known for its marbled meat which makes it tender, fine-textured
and succulent. It is unlike any pork you ever tasted. By raising
the pigs on pasture they don't need medication or antibiotics
they receive all the vitamins and nutrients
they need from mother nature. We are bringing back the old style
pork raised on pasture—happy and never confined.
We sell half a
pig or whole. If you don't have a freezer big enough or just a
small household we do sell from the freezer. Our smoked goods can
be smoked with or without nitrates. All our pork is frozen and
packaged at a USDA certified facility. We also sell weaned piglets
for 4H projects or to raise your own pork. Farm tours are available

Little
Alaska Farm, owned and operated by Roger and Linda Fortin since
1974, is located at 222 Leeds Junction Road in Wales, Maine. We
feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to raise our three
children on this farm. Little Alaska Farm's 360 acres of rolling
green pastures are home to our 100 Black Angus brood cows.
We use New Zealand bloodline Devon sires. Our
Devon Angus cross calves are kept on their dams for ten months and
then go on to a rotational pasture program. Our pigs are fed out
on grass; our chickens, turkeys and laying hens are range
fed and their grains are a veggie formula—no animal by-products
allowed. We do not use antibiotics or hormones and the cattle are
not fed any grain.
We retail our beef, pork and poultry
through a fresh meat case, or freezer orders at our retail Little
Alaska Farm Market [tel: (207) 933-3300] located right on the farm
at 170 Leeds Junction Road in Wales. Our market hours are:
Wednesday–Thursday, 9 AM to 5:30 PM
Friday–9 AM to 6 PM
Saturday–9 AM to 3 PM.

Medicine
Hill is a small diversified certified organic farm in
the scenic farming area of central Maine. We specialize in grass
fed and finished beef. We practice intense rotational grazing.
Our animals are treated as we would like to be treated and in return
they give us great meat.
Our butcher is at a carefully chosen USDA facility.
Our meat is DRY AGED for 21 days. Dry aging concentrates the flavor
and tenderizes the meat. It is then custom cut, cryovac sealed and
frozen. Our beef is sold by the side or whole animal when ordered
in advance. Our freezer beef is available year round.
Pasture raised chicken and pork
are grown to order. Orders must be received by May 1st. Fertilized
pastured/free range eggs are also available year round. Fresh
herbs and vegetables in season. We also offer CSA shares in $50
and $100 blocks. Please sign up by May 1st.
Classes in "Preserving the Harvest"
are offered in August and September. We are open year round, but
please call ahead.
We are happy to provide farm tours upon request.
We are handicapped accessible and have restroom facilities. Call
or e-mail for more information.

is certified organic.
Freezer beef is currently available at its peak
in the fall. The beef is sold in quantities of a quarter animal
or more. It is frozen and packaged at a USDA certified plant in
plastic cryovac wrap. We are working on a system to produce grass-fed

Pondview Farm sells all natural, grass
fed Highland Beef and Icelandic Lamb.
Our animals do not
receive antibiotics or hormones. They are rotationally grazed
on pastures in summer, and eat local hay in winter.
Delicious Highland
beef is significantly lower in fat and cholesterol, and higher
in protein and iron than other breeds.
Mild flavored and naturally
lean, Icelandic lamb is a much different experience than your typical
grocery store lamb. Its milder flavor appeals to many
consumers who say they "just don't like lamb."
Our meats
are processed by a local USDA butcher and are available in sides,
quarters and retail packages.
Check
out our farm website for more information and please call or email
for purchasing details.

Sebago Lake Ranch is located 1 mile from the South shore of Sebago
Lake on the Gorham/Standish line. We have been raising beef under
a Natural label for over 10 years and recently switched to a no grain,
grass only diet.
We have practiced management intensive grazing
for about 8 years and worked with the USDA Natural Resource Conservation
Service for over 10 years on projects to reduce the impact of farming
on the environment.
As the manager of Sebago Lake Ranch I farm
on a professional level. I have a BS from Cornell University in
Animal Science and have attended various schools and seminars on
Grass-Fed beef. I also have an extensive library on the subject.
Animals are humanely, safely and efficiently
handled with a chute system purchased in 2006. We have been certified
with the Maine Beef Quality Assurance program.
We use a local abattoir that is
federally USDA inspected and packages the meat in cryovac plastic.
Right now we are limited to a seasonal production model because
we want to achieve the maximum levels of Omega-3 and CLA that can
be found in an animal finished on green grass.
We also produce/sell
Maple Syrup.
