Au Naturel Farm is an 85-acre grassfarm that provides grass-finished beef, available as halves or split halves. The cattle are Murray Greys, an Australian breed that "excels on grass." We practice "organic" agricultural methodology, although we have chosen not to certify under the current USDA regulations.

Pastured poultry are available by pre-order only from June to September. Free-range eggs are available from mid-February through October. Products are sold at the farm and at the Bowling Green Farmer's Market from May through October.

Colcord Farms–Blue Grass Finished Beef ®

We dedicate 250 acres to raising grass and clover for 300 black steers. Our selected calves come to the farm in the fall soon after they are weaned. In April, they begin to grow rapidly on the springtime nourishing grasses and clovers. No pesticides or herbicides are used on the forage. No routine antibiotics or steroids are used. The grass grows naturally without being pumped up with nitrogen fertilizer. The steers move from field to field with new pasture every few days. The water flows from the farm springs, wells, and ponds with no added chemicals. The slow movement across the rich fields means they can be finished as succulent marbled beef without eating any grain. The fresh grass gives them a healthy balance of fat and lean and a special flavor.

The beef is USDA approved for supply to restaurants, retail outlets and direct sale to consumers. Look for it in Lexington KY at the Good Foods Market and Cafe and the Blue Moon Farm stall at the Lexington Farmers Market. Also at the Farmers Market shop in Paris KY. In Louisville KY the beef is sold by Amazing Grace Natural Foods and in Florence KY and Dayton Ohio at Healthy Alternative Natural Foods. Sides and quarters of beef are available at the processing plant in KY. (E-mail ColcordFarms@BlueGrassFinishedBeef.com for more information)

Dogwood Farm raises all beef calves from birth. Since 1964, when the herd began as a 4-H project, the primary enterprise has been the production of registered Polled Hereford breeding cattle. Currently producing up to 85 calves annually, the closed cow herd is forage-oriented, selected for ability to thrive on pasture.

Dogwood Farm Polled Herefords are very docile, gentle-tempered cattle. Their relaxed natures and low-stress lives contribute to tenderness in the finished beef. Hereford beef is naturally good-tasting, consistently flavorful meat.

No pesticides or herbicides are used on pastures. No growth hormones are used, nor antibiotics except for rare emergency treatment. Tiny natural predator wasps help suppress fly populations. Cattle graze a variety of pasture grasses, clovers, and other legumes during the green season through rotational or management intensive grazing. During early winter, cattle graze stockpiled fescue, ryegrass and green wheat. Cows remain on pasture with free-choice hay during cold months, occasionally supplemented with high fiber soyhulls during severe weather.

Calves are born in March/April or September/October. Half the calves from each crop are selected for breeding or seedstock sale. The remainder are available for custom finishing by advance reservation. Currently, calves sell on hoof or through arrangement with local processors twice a year. Whole cow hamburger will be available as demand warrants.

DreamCatcher Farm, located near Taylorsville, Kentucky, is 170 acres of beautiful Kentucky farmland that is home to grass-fed Devon and Angus cattle.  Although grass-fed beef is the primary livestock on the farm, lamb and pork are also raised using sustainable farming methods.

Through management intensive grazing, our cows are pastured on alfalfa, orchard grass, red clover, and other native Kentucky grasses. No pesticides or chemicals are ever used on our grasses. Likewise, during winter months, the cattle are given alfalfa/clover/orchard grass hay that is grown on our farm. No growth implants or hormones are ever used on our cattle. Antibiotics are used only in life or death emergencies. Never stressed or driven, the beef from these cows is tender and lean.  Extra care is given to the humane treatment of all DreamCatcher animals – especially through the harvesting process.

DreamCatcher Farm's signature item is a whole-cow gourmet ground beef.  Our customers tell us it tastes like beef used to taste years ago, before all the chemicals, additives, and feedlots came along.

DreamCatcher beef, lamb, and pork are sold direct in Louisville through six local farmers markets and one retail outlet.  DreamBurgers, our signature hamburger, are available at Stan’s Restaurant in St. Matthews and at the BearGrass Christian Church farmers market on Saturday mornings.  You can also come and enjoy a whole hog pork sausage biscuit at that same farmers market as well. Please visit our website for the entire farmers market listing.

Dutch Creek Farm, in its 18 year of operation, utilizes "permaculture principles, ecological design, and humane livestock raising" in an attempt to "mimic an animal's natural lifestyle as much as possible." The farm provides pastured poultry, beef, and brown eggs from free-ranging Rhode Island Reds. The cattle are raised on lush, pesticide-free pastures and are not treated with antibiotics, hormones, or artificial food additives.

Breeding bulls and replacement heifers are offered for sale each year from their herd of registered Angus cattle. "Our herd is one of the few in this country selected to excel on grass."

Emerald Glen Farm is a 300-acre farm near Mammoth Cave National Park that has been in our family for 204 years and 8 generations.  We raise grass-finished beef, pastured poultry, and pastured pigs using organic fertilizers, mineral supplements, and pest controls (we are not certified organic). Our animals receive no steroids, hormones, or antibiotics. Cattle and chickens are moved daily (pigs weekly) to insure fresh forage is available at all times and to provide fertilization to our soils.

Our cowherd is predominantly Red Devon, the premier breed for grass-finishing beef. These genetics along with our grazing protocol and forage quality result in a tender, well-marbled beef on grass. We ultrasound our finishing animals to determine their quality and make sure our customers get gourmet beef.

All meats are USDA inspected. We sell beef and pork by bulk order (wholes, halves, split-halves) and do have cuts available on a limited basis. Whole cow ground beef and pork sausage are also available.

We finish beeves in winter through spring. Pigs are available year-round.  Pastured chickens are sold by the bird (whole or cut-up) and are processed June through October. We do not ship meat but coordinate pickup or deliveries with our patrons.

The Sanders Farm is located in the mountains of upper East Tennessee, near the Kentucky border. For thirty years we have tended a small beef cow/calf herd on 65 acres of herbicide and pesticide-free land without the use of antibiotics or growth hormones. We do not routinely treat them with any pesticides; adults are treated for lice once in mid-winter. Flies are controlled by use of a walk through flytrap. They are a closed herd so we know the lineage of every animal for several generations as they were all born on our farm. We use artificial insemination to introduce new blood lines.

We are selling whole calves, usually in the fall. They are grass and milk-finished with a live weight between 400 and 600 pounds, and hanging weight approximately 200 to 360 pounds. The live calf is delivered to your choice of processors within a 50-mile radius of the farm and you pick up your frozen meat from them. Our price is $2.50 per pound of hanging weight. You also pay the butcher's bill, which is around $40 plus $.40 per pound of hanging weight.

We would rather sell our calves to anyone wanting untainted meat than sell them into the beef industry's feedlots where they live a little longer but in an unnatural and highly stressful way.
